I don't think this is a good idea because there are possibilities that devices take longer than 300s to finish - for example a fully populated Nexus 5K with > 1300 ports in total

It is better that is handled by the script, but i don't know how to add it, to the poller.php scipt.

Cool! How does it handle when poller or discovery is still running when its time to start a new process? Like when polling takes more than 5min for some reason?

Hi I have made systemd files for Observium. This makes it simplare to log from poller or discovery. It also adds a Max runtime control. It should probably be a max runtime per device.
