Creating associations via API would probably involve you generating the JSON ruleset yourself, but beyond this I might be able to add an endpoint to the API for this easilyish, depending how well structured the existing stuff is.

You can see the format in the database for an existing group.

Alternatively, you could just insert the rows directly into the database, probably slightly easier than the API for one offs.
