I got this working following Cody’s instructions.
What I did:
1) Used Telegram’s Bot Father to create a bot 2) Created a new group chat and added the bot to it 3) send a test message in the group 4) ran https://api.telegram.org/bot<TOKEN>/getUpdates and picked out the chat ID: “chat”:{“id”:-XXXXX Note my group chat is a negative integer 5) created a new alert contact for telegram with the chat id and token
