I'm hoping somebody can help with an alert checker.

I'd like to look at "port_descr_notes" and if it contains NoAlert anywhere in it - not have it fire the should be up rule.
ifAdminStatus equals up
ifOperStatus equals down

I've tried...
port_descr_notes notmatch *NoAlert*
port_descr_notes notregexp .*NoAlert.*

Both with no success (they both completely invalidate the rule).

The string "NoAlert" should be able to fall anywhere in the description, start, middle, end - or just completely by itself.
