Because good news are always delivered in bulk, here is an update considering support for transceivers sensors MIBs :

 

“I've had the response for the transceiver OID's for NOS as well. Unfortunately this will need an RFE.

No SNMP OID exists for SFP related information.

If customer wants this OID added we will need to engage Account/Sales team to submit an RFE.

The L3 engineer did add this information is available through the REST API if your Monitoring software supports it through

http://<switch-ip>:80/rest/operational-state/get-media-detail

 

Which might help in the short term if Observium supports it.”

 

 

I guess I will have to ask my SE to open up a new RFE, just like for the FCX switchs.

For those running VDX6740 switchs, here is a feedback from BTAC explaining that environmental sensors will be missing when running AG mode at the same time (until NOS7.2.0 is released) :

 

“I've had a response back on the missing OID's on the 6740. It is as suspected related to running in AG mode.

The system mib which contains “System Group” (SNMP named swSystem; swSensorTable is part of it) is disabled in AG mode as per design up to NOS 7.1.0. The change has been made to support system mib in AG mode starting NOS 7.2.0. 

 

At this point in time NOS 7.2.0 is still under development and there is no information on when it will be released.

So I'm afraid at the moment, as you need AG, until 7.2.0 is released you will not be able to monitor those OID's. As it is a design change there are no plans to change this in 7.1 or 7.0”

So, little update regarding optical transceivers sensors missing :

And this is about environmental sensors :

 

“Update on the SNMP case for the environmental sensor response differences between the 6940 and 6740.

 

I check this in the lab and can get the response from the 6740 running 7.1.0 when I disable AG (Access Gateway mode). I know you said you need this so we can't disable it.

 

I did find a KB saying SW-MIB should be accessible now in versions after 7.0 with AG enabled but it did not mention this OID.

 

I've had to raise this as an escalation as well to get this clarified.”

 

 

So, between DEFECTs and RFEs, my plate is overflowing.

If missing something, than this mean specific MIB for device/vendor unsupported for now.

Please attach debug for sensors discovery:
