Thank you Adam, that did it. I had to do some spelunking to find out how to change the time zone for PHP and MySQL but I was able to get them changed. This morning I came in and saw that Observium correctly noticed that my VMware host was down for two poller cycles last night for maintenance.

Also, the “Uptime” shown on the attached screenshot shows “Down 8h 4m 59s.” I checked the graph for this server and I see no downtime.
