      You can.. Check out http://www.observium.org/wiki/Configuration_Options
for all options. But I believe this is what you are looking for.
Fontpage Order
// Frontpage order you can use: map, device_status, overall_traffic,
custom_traffic, minigraphs, syslog, eventlog
$config['frontpage']['order']           = array('map', 'device_status',
'overall_traffic', 'custom_traffic', 'minigraphs', 'syslog',
'eventlog');
So if you just leave out 'map' it won't show up.

In the paid svn version we have it changed the map to a google map
with the flag google thing instead of the huge dot. Worked wonders for
us.

    Honestly I never liked the map and wanted to remove it
    completely as I never found much use for it when every device
    is in a single location for us.

    Hello.

    I would like to reduce the dotsize on the map to 1 but the
    config dosent seem to be going through. 

    We have 155 devices in Observium at the moment and things can
    get a bit hard to look at. Especially when you get the big
    dots when you have a lot of devices grouped together. 

    I googled the issue and I found an old mail discussion where
    it was said that it wasn’t implemented yet. 

    Is this still the case or am I missing something else?
