Hi,

It is, but I can’t guarantee that it’ll fix your problem. It’s not always possible to work around vendors using broken SNMP stacks.

I’ll contact you off list to test.

Adam.

It seems that that SNMP stack used on the Cyan devices is broken in such a way that we had to disable bulkwalk, which will totally tank polling speed. Some devices with poor stacks will frequently drop queries half way through, which makes them next to impossible to poll with bulkwalk.

You might get better polling from using the separate get method, but I don’t think that’s in CE at the moment.

Thanks,

Adam.

They are Ciena(Cyan)z77’s running OS 10.0.03-0002.  The ones I have trouble with have 10 cards in them with each card having 2 20 Gig Xuai ports,4 10 Gig ports and 12 1 gig ports. So 40 10 Gib ports and 120 1 Gig ports. When a service is created with in the device it creates multiple flow domains( virtual ports).  I am using the community edition ver 18.9.9420.

Hi Greg,

can you tells us more about what kind of device this is? I assume a switch?

What vendor and what model is this?

I’m having a problem polling my high capacity devices. The following command can take up to 18 minutes to complete due to the number and interfaces. The command is  /usr/bin/snmpwalk -v2c -c 'XXXXX' -Pu -OQUs -m IF-MIB -M /opt/observium/mibs/rfc:/opt/observium/mibs/net-snmp 'udp':’x.x.x.x’:'161' ifEntry. Do the pro or enterprise versions change the way they poll devices? Are there configuration setting I can change to make? The devices I am polling have upwards of 1000 interfaces.
