Its true. But windows servers do provide very very very limited information via SNMP.
Some ppl (as me) prefer to use commercial version of Observium in corporate environment because of the:
-
Good network device MIBs support
-
friendly interface
-
easy integration with external tools as smokeping
-
alerting is not bad
-
Unix agent with prepared templates for many Linux application services.
-
Easy syslog integration
-
Very reasonable price
But.. Using Observium, I cant have mean-full Windows monitoring. You can get MUCH more information via WMI than via SNMP.
If You create (and support) good WMI queries, You will not need to develop windows monitoring agents.. And You will have much more clients of course.
