Google will eventually block you, as you've be using it outside of their license terms. This is why we dropped it.
There will be the ability to use alternative map tile providers with the new map in future, but we likely will keep the lightweight carto tiles as default, since we have a large enough userbase that we put noticeable load on whatever provider we use.

That kinda sucks as google maps has the satellite view. It still works if you use the previous version, which I did a vm snapshot before I upgraded. I may go back.
