Hi,
After creating some alerts,which command can i use to force mails through? Had a look in /var/log and I saw postfix had some errors with the domain I was using. After that I made some changes and the alert checkers are failing but still not receiving mail.

Hi Adam
I have tested with our domain as well just thought I would try from others. Will create a few tests with our domain.

Are you sure nothing is being sent, or are you just not receiving anything?
You might want to make sure that the "from" address is configured right. It probably needs an @ in it somewhere.
The destination is a gmail, gmail is probably the worst place you can ever send something when you're testing, because google will just junk all your shit at random without giving two shits about whether you might want to know you got it or not.
Have you verified that there's nothing in the postfix logs? (/var/log/mail.log)

Hi Josh
Thank you, I set those configs up in the config.php file. Made sure I checked the documentation thoroughly before asking for help.On our subscription version I created an alert for a device if the serial port went down and the device went down but no email came through.Does the alerting system use postfix,as I can send a mail manually from postfix no problem.Not sure if I am missing something in my configs.(Please see attached images)

Hi Anton,
Welcome to the community.
The documentation has changed on the Observium website as Adam is making significant changes (or has) to alerts.
If you are in the subscription version it might be different than the community version. The community version right now is using legacy alerts.
// Enable alerter
$config['poller-wrapper']['alerter'] = TRUE;
// Set up a default alerter (email to a single address)
$config['alerts']['alerter']['default']['descr'] = "Default Email Alert";
$config['alerts']['alerter']['default']['type'] = "email";
$config['alerts']['alerter']['default']['contact'] = " ITObserviumNotify@purafilter2000.com";
$config['alerts']['alerter']['default']['enable'] = TRUE;
See defaults.inc.php for settings for email.
If your still having issues you might want to have a look at alerts.php.
$config['poller-wrapper']['alerter'] = TRUE;
All of this should be in the opt/observium directory
If you have the subscription version of Observium:

Hey guys,
Could you assist as to how we can set up alerts. I pretty much want the system to send an email when a device goes down.
How would I go about setting this up?
Regards
