Adam, now when the install-script sets the correct permissions default wouldn't it possible to have rename device in the GUI?
I assume the blocker was the webserver was not allowed to change directory names in the rrd-dir?

The rename_device.php tool in the observium directory will do this.

./rename_device.php old new

Though you really should not be using bare IPs in observium...
