Hi,
We use an AWS RDS instance for the database, so the database is not hosted on the observium server itself. Not sure if that qualifies as a 'remote database'. Now, if you plan on having a (network wise) remote centralized database (for backups), you'd rather have a centralized (and remote) mysql slave which you can use for backups (and a kind of hot standby in case of issues).

The further away your database is, the slower **EVERY** database query will be, and the slower everything else will be.
The database should be as close to the web ui as possible, and the pollers shouldn’t be too far away either.

Hello,
I see that Observium supports remote database, recently when i was thinking how to autobackup database, i came accross to the idea that i could use remote db functionality to send db data to some centralized location.
Has anybode tried to use remote db for Observium ?
