There is a log trace where we could debug the SMTP/TLS configuration ?

Yes observium Alert check and association is OK.
Why let smtp auth on a deprecated configuration example ? We have a lot of applications who use embedded SMTP with TLS with no problem and with a log stack when authentication goes wrong.
MTA configuration on linux are source of problem too and could add a SPOF on our monitoring application.

Have you made a contact and associated it with an alert check?
Is there actually an alert table entry with the id of 1?
We normally recommend that people don't use SMTP, because it /always/ seems to cause problems. A local MTA on the Observium server is the recommended way.

Ok,
I need to debug SMTP with TLS and User/login authentification for observium ( actually mail doesn’t work) . There is my config.php :
// Enable alerter (not available in CE)
$config['poller-wrapper']['alerter'] = TRUE;
// Set up a default alerter (email to a single address)
$config['email']['enable'] = TRUE;
$config['email']['from'] = 'dr07.monitoring@cnrs.fr';
$config['email']['default'] = NULL;
$config['email']['default_only'] = FALSE;
$config['email']['backend'] = 'SMTP SERVER';
$config['email']['smtp_host'] = 'XXXXX';
$config['email']['smtp_port'] = 587;
$config['email']['smtp_timeout'] = 10;
$config['email']['smtp_secure'] = 'tls';
$config['email']['smtp_auth'] = TRUE;
$config['email']['smtp_username'] = ‘Observium EMAIL';
$config['email']['smtp_password'] = 'PASSWORD';
I have two Check alert : “
device_status equals 1 * *” and “device_status equals 0 * *”
If I try test_alert script “ ./test_alert.php -a 1 –dd” I have no output concerning SMTP protocol only SQL query.
There is a beter way ?
regards

Hi,
The notification system has changed a lot since those docs were written. We now use test_alert.php, which takes the argument of -a and an alert entry id, and will generate notifications for all contacts associated with that alert entry.

Hello,
I follow the documentation for configuring SMTP mail : http://www.observium.org/docs/config_options/
For testing , it seem to have a “test_mail.php”, I’m on Observium Professional 0.16.5.7857 but nothing on my root directory.
