To make sure this is the case, agent scripts should have the absolute minimum of code. Where possible, just command output or cat'd files, updating php, perl and python scripts after deployment may prove difficult... :)

I'll reiterate what I said on IRC:
Adam feels the current "application" infrastructure is not how it should be.
However, yes, applications are not going away, just the way they are monitored may change. Data collection scripts which we have now will then be converted to whatever new format we'll be using. In the future. Not now. No time, bugs and alerting first ;-)

The applications stuff is messy.
At some point we need to properly define how it should all work and make some real infrastructure for it, but that requires time and resource we don't have at the moment.
So it's subject to change at any moment :)

Hy all,
i'm using observium to monitor my network devices, i've seen there are applications that could be as well monitored.
are these applications to be maintained or to be dropped ?
i'm evaluating zabbix as well, so just wondering if i should keep both ?
feedback appreciated,
