Hi Marian,

really strange error, then this won't fix by snmp timeout.

Will wait for the TAC case decision.
But perhaps the error has already been fixed in latest firmware (7.0.2).
They don't always indicate fixed issues (if no open TAC case).

Hi Mike,
thank you very much for your reply. I did "confirm" strange behavior of Cisco device and opened TAC case. It seems to it has a trouble to response on very specific (full) OID. Sorry I didn't noticed earlier.

Device types detected by snmp Oids.
Different Oids for different OS types, but mostly is sysObjectId and sysDescr.
And exactly for Cisco IOS (XR, XS) used sysDescr.
When device discovery not received sysDescr than os type resets to generic os.

Try increase SNMP timeout, I sure this should fix your trouble.

Hi Mike,
I'll try to extend timeouts, but not sure about bug in IOS version. Is it possible to configure device type manually? How is the device type detected? Is it from SNMP MIB?

Hi,

seems as device have some troubles with snmp access (ie network timeouts).
This is indicated by the fact that sysDescr periodically lost.

Increase snmp timeout in device edit page to 2-3 sec.
Another way - update firmware to latest (not sure, but can be firmware issue).

Hi all,
I would like to ask for a hint or information I'm missing in oder to successfully monitor Cisco ASR9K (ASR9901-RP) running Cisco IOS XR Software, Version 7.0.1.

I'm getting "Generic device" not Cisco device and for unknown reason I'm getting this LOG messages

..

SNMP works just fine, as other graphs or values are being collected successfully. There is no error in observium.log and polling graphs looks good too.

On top of that, every full discovery cycle (every 12 hours) we are getting full set of alarms from this device.

Any idea please? Thank you Marian
