Hi All,
I've just committed code to split 'state' sensors into a 'status' entity to make it easier to alert on these, and to allow us more flexibility with alerting on arbitrary and complex things in future.
It's trivial to alert on these, since part of the intention is to allow people to write complex alerting code in PHP which will present ok/alert/warn to observium.

State sensors will be automatically migrated to status entities, so you just need to make an alert checker.
