We had some ideas about this, but they've not been implemented yet.

Perhaps in a future version.

Hello,

thanks i think you are right, with a few option i could hold the
ifindex,

till a reboot of the linux-server.

A Idea, how i could hold it or use the ifname instatt?

(i know it is a little bit of topic)

(It is a openvpn daemon and a debian server.)

A nice day

Hello.

The reason that the interface is deleted and reappear as a new
interface is probably beacuse your server change the ifindex
for the interface each time. If you could configure your
server to always use the same ifindex for this vpn then
Observium would use the same rrd file and it will comeback
with its traffic history as any other interface that goes down
and then up.

Hallo,

i have the following problem.
I server of mine a VPN-Service.
This vpn-service restart some times (and with it it recreate a network
interface with the same name "vpn-interface").
Observium delete the interface and create a new one (with the same name).

The Question, is it possible to detect it and make a down up event out
of it (and a mac change)?
So it will use the same rrds, graphs and so on.

Nice Wishes
Geno
