As far as I know the alerting system doesn't have a check for device up/down yet, so I assume you are both talking about the old, deprecated and discontinued notification system? :-)

I have a similar environment and the same issue, could another workaround be sending a single email containing all alerts?

Hey guys,

I am using the beta version of observium updated with svn with the server running in a datacenter in one US state and some of the SNMP agents in several others. It works perfect with one site, however the other has terrible internet connecting the site, and we lose vpn every once in a while. It immediately comes back, however when it polls while the site is down we receive 20-30 emails about devices being down when in fact it is the internet connection. Is there a way (or a plan in the future) to set dependencies on polling? For example if the Router/Modem does not respond then send an alert as down, but it knows that in fact if it can’t talk past the router then obviously the rest will show as down as well so the alerts won’t bombard our email?
