Eventlog removal is done by housekeeping scripts, you can set those times for whatever you like.
More data is more slower, though. MySQL scales poorly for that sort of thing. :)

Couldn't be this included as a device property, a'la 'first seen'?
Maybe even better would be to keep some event log entries for longer (maybe forever). I can think of some entries like this first seen entry, the "toner replaced" event for printers, battery changed for UPS's and such!?
