why would you say it wasn't? it's rrdtool which generates those numbers.

Why would you say this is related to rrdtool ? Most open source solutions have been relaying on it for years (cacti, etc.) and it's been working just fine !

This is a quirk of rrdtool. It's frustrating, indeed. If anyone knows how to rectify it, that would be nice! :)
