Those graphs are made of individual RRDs. Find out which ports have the issue and fix them :)

I'm not sure how this can be caused by SQL, unless it causes some bottleneck that messes with the poller timing.
This is down to rrdtool's brain deadedness, we already do about as much as it's possible to do to suppress RRD spikes.
