Hi Derek,

If it's zero I can definitely treat that as wrong. :-)

But for the people where it sits at 37W that's another issue...

However, there is always a warning threshold used in the poe code :-)

- Lower limit: 0
- Upper limit: <max power specified by pse>
- Upper warning limit: Percent of PSE max power: pethMainPseUsageThreshold

pethMainPseUsageThreshold is defined as:

"The usage threshold expressed in percents for
comparing the measured power and initiating
an alarm if the threshold is exceeded."

i.e. for my HP switches this OID contains 80%, resulting in this:

save
            image

So the question is, what do those funny devices return in pethMainPseUsageThreshold ...

When a threshold isn't provided by the device, we estimate one using a % +/- of the measurement at that time. At the moment the UI doesn't have the ability to change the warning thresholds, only the alert thresholds.

I'll add it to the list! (it was already on, but i'll move it up! ;))

I have a bunch of Cisco 3750x (15.0.2se4) that exhibit a similar behavior.  No matter the power value, they are all in warning.

Hy *,

does anybody know how the PoE Thresholds for Warning and Error State are calculated?

I have got (Juniper EX) switches which can Provide up to 740W but the warning limit is set to 37W for some reason.

Thanks

Richard
