Thanks for the response, Adam! That at least gets me pointed in a direction. I'll see what I can do with leaflet, and if I can the answer, then I'll share it with you and perhaps get it incorporated into the documentation.

The map widget is created by leaflet. If you can work out how to add
things using leaflet, we can probably incorporate it.
We don't currently have any way of adding extra things to the map.
