Hi Derek,

Pretty much this:

- Take a mysqldump of your Observium database

- Install new machine with all Observium dependencies, Apache configuration, cron job, database, etc.

- Instead of doing the initial database load, load the dump you made in step one

- Copy config.php (and possibly other custom files such as a custom port description parser) to the new system

- Copy the /opt/observium/rrd/ directory to the new system

As long as your new box has same CPU architecture as the old one (i.e. not going from 32-bit to 64-bit), that should be it. In that case you'll need the procedure from the architecture migration page mentioned in the other reply.

... and of course, don't throw away your old machine before you verified everything is OK on the new one! ;-)

Good luck,

Tom

What is the procedure for moving observium to a new box?  I know I’ve seen snippets of this in email before, but I am unable to track down a procedure.

Also, are there any issues that would occur moving from Debian (currently wheezy) to Ubunut 16?

Thanks,

derek
