Very little information about this in the Wiki or configuration guide.
I would like to get hardware sensors working in Observium for Dell servers, PE 2950, R310, R610, etc. I want to alert when any sensor is not OK. For example, hard drive failure, power supply failure, etc.
From what I think is possible. That information is available in SNMP on a physical Linux server if you setup SNMP SMUX Peer to the Dell OpenManage agent running on the server? Does Observium support it?
This was how it worked when i originally wrote the code, when I had Dell servers.
However, it appears this is not possible on physical Windows? As well, as it look like that hardware SNMP nformation is not available either on ESXi 5+ because of lack of SNMP support integration with Dell OpenManage agent VIB.
I'm on correct on this? Or can Observium get this hardware health from WS-MAN on ESXi, or IPMI to iDRAC hardware card?
We should see them via IPMI if they exist.
We do IPMI, and there's probably some OMSA code as well, but I don't know if it's been touched or tested recently.
I'm going to do a writeup on a lot of things where documentation is lacking, but that also takes time, so no timeline yet..
