The command I am actually using is tar zcvf /opt/backup/observium-rrd.tar.gz /opt/observium/rrd which I think is why I'm receiving the message. I am not clear what is rally happening so am not sure if the correct thing is been written into the archive. Perhaps someone can throw some light on it for me?

tar: Removing leading `/' from member names
Is this OK or should I use the --absolute-names option?
Also I am getting some messages saying file changed as we read it. This is understandable but do i need to do anything while running the backup to stop this from happening?
Thanks in advance.
