Hi,

The way the poller works makes this difficult to do in a way that would have the outcome people expect, so we haven’t implemented dependencies so as not to introduce unexpected behaviours.

If a switch is polled 2-3 minutes before the router, we would have to delay the switch’s alert checking until after the switch was checked.

My position has mostly been that implementing this would probably introduce more delay that people would expect/want.

Adam.

Subject: [Observium] Alert dependency

Hello,

Is it possible to set an alert dependency on observium? for example if there are 04 devices on the network: 01 router and 03 cascading  switches..

If the router goes down, we do not need the 03 switches sending an alert anymore as they depends on the router.

This will save us from flooding alert and make the alerting system more efficient.

Thank You and Regards,

Toky,
