One note though.
And this isn't just related to CentOS hence change of subject.
You'll need to sort out your own log rotation, e.g. create /etc/logrotate.d/observium with something like the below if you stick with the basic Apache httpd config,
/opt/observium/logs/*_log { missingok notifempty compress delaycompress sharedscripts postrotate /bin/systemctl reload httpd.service > /dev/null 2>/dev/null || true endscript }
/opt/observium/logs/*.log { missingok notifempty compress delaycompress }
There's been a couple of jira tickets related to it (745/872), but no template suggested in jira or added to svn that I could find, and no code to manage observium.log or update-errors.log that grep -i could find.

Okay. I will try the standard CentOS/RHEL Guide. Yeah I know the most minor changes of CentOS 7.
Thank you Adriaan ;-)

Standard CentOS installation instruction worked for me. Some minor changes here and there (systemctl instead of service and MariaDB instead of MySQL).

I'm running three instances, all on CentOS 7, no dramas.
MySQL became MariaDB; that's about the biggest change that I can recall.
