PHP8 isn’t really the same language as PHP5/6 anymore, it’s Python3’d itself with needless backwards compatibility-breaking changes because that worked out so well for Python.

We’ve mostly fixed all of the things that PHP8 broke, but I still wouldn’t use it for the time being. The x.1s version of PHP always seems to bring even more changes. I suspect we’ll target 7.x for a while.

We recommend 7.4 at the moment.

I don’t think MariaDB have made any compatibility breaking changes that have affected us at all really. There may have been a few quite a while ago, but not at present that I know of.

Subject: [Observium] what version of php and maria can I use?

Hi, I did look at the recommendations and it says 7.2+  so, can I use 7.4?  what about 8?  Same question for maria,  looks like you like 10.3, can I use more current versions?

Thanks

Tony
