Dear community,

Here is the official confirmation from BTAC :

“I have been working with our Level 3 engineer assigned to the case, and with the assistance of our Engineering team. After running some testing in the LAB, and analyzing the logs below, we confirmed this issue is related to an internal DEFECT that will be fixed in the next version of NOS.

2017/05/29-10:48:46, [SNMP-1005], 164074, SW/0 | Active, INFO, sw0, SNMP configuration attribute, snmp.64mibCap.SW-MIB, has changed from 0x0 to 0x57ff.

The DEFECT is expected to be fixed in NOS 7.2.0 which is still under development; however, we do not have a define date for it to be released.

However, we managed to test the version 7.2.0 as it is so far, and it does work. I receive a reply from the OID even with the AG feature enable. Therefore we need to wait for the version to be completed, and published.”

As soon as I have relevant DEFECT ID, I’ll share it with you.

Best regards.

Dear Community,

After doing some digging with BTAC, it appears that we are hitting yet another issue where AG mode messes with SNMP.

When AG mode is disabled, we get the following log and SNMP responds fine to the requested OID :

2017/05/29-10:48:46, [SNMP-1005], 164074, SW/0 | Active, INFO, sw0, SNMP configuration attribute, snmp.64mibCap.SW-MIB, has changed from 0x0 to 0x57ff.

It’s very likely that this will be filed as a DEFECT as this part of code (SNMP with AG mode on) will be completely re-written for NOS720 due by mid-june. I’m pushing really hard to have it fixed by then.

I’ll update you accordingly.

Best regards.

    Dear Mike,

Here is a feedback from Brocade support :

“After testing and consulting, OID=.1.3.6.1.4.1.1588.3.3.1.164 and OID=1.3.6.1.4.1.1588.3.3.1.131  shown not being VDX NOS software supported.
Nevertheless swFirmwareVersion    1.3.6.1.4.1.1588.2.1.1.1.1.6 is included in the MIB guide”

So, which one is the correct / standard OID to use ?

    Best regards.

        Dear Community,

Here are initial feedbacks from BTAC :

“Have gone through Brocade Network OS MIB Manual, found  swFirmwareVersion 1.3.6.1.4.1.1588.2.1.1.1.1.6. Need to confirm and run some test son this OID.
as this OID=.1.3.6.1.4.1.1588.3.3.1.164  and OID=1.3.6.1.4.1.1588.3.3.1.131  are not found in documentation.”

They are still “labing” this. Will keep you updated.

            Dear Mike,

            Thank you for the workaround.

I will still open a case with Brocade and ask them to correct this. They will probably end up ask me to open a new RFE, and we all know how this ends.

            Best regards.

                Yah,

this is again your "nice" vendor and it's snmp support :)

I added parse version from sysDescr, should work for your 6740 now.
(But I see you use stable train, than wait when Adam sync stable with
                rolling train)

 Dear community,

Just noticed what I would call a « cosmetic » issue when displaying
OS version on different Brocade VDX switchs :

<image001.png>

Release number appears for VDX6940 model but not for 6740 model. I
have a bunch of them and they run latest available version and
display the same behavior ?

Yet another crappy snmp implementation from the vendor ?

Best regards.
