There's no extra documentation behind a paywall. We just spend more time writing code than documentation!
Changing device type is just informational (it literally only puts it into that menu!). MIBs and polling type is mostly controlled by OS type, which is automatically set and can't be changed manually.
You'd be the first person I've encountered who thought polling bandwidth was an issue, rather than cpu or I/o! :)
