Hi Henry,

Observium relies heavily on SNMP for a lot of its code, and the proper operation of the web UI relies information collected via SNMP to work. Modifying Observium to allow devices without SNMP capability to be added would be quite labour intensive, and isn't on our roadmap at the moment.

Currently IPMI is used as a supplemental data collection mechanism, rather than one replacing SNMP.

Observium's wiki is very ambiguous and there is not enough information about usage of IPMI in Observium. Did anyone manage to successfully use IPMI together with Observium? It would be very nice to get more information about this and maybe even a guide on how you add a device that only supports IPMI protocol.
