Hello, I use the below with the same hostname (FQDN or Short) and SNMP Community name and it works fine.
/opt/observium# ./add_device.php SomeHost SomeCommunity v2c

Try to add the device with the whole FQDN: hostname.domain.com http://hostname.domain.com
