Hi, I managed to install Observium rev2831 on SLES11SP1, and it's working great!!
Trying to add hosts by CLI I was getting the "cannot ping" message, fixed it adding "$config['fping'] = "/usr/sbin/fping";" to config.php.
Now, I keep getting the same trying to use the Web UI to add a hosts, apparently it's not using the config['fping'] variable. Is that possible?
The web interface uses the same functions as the commandline interface and as such should use the same configuration values. Is could not ping host the exact error you are getting? Feel free to hop by our IRC channel if you want to discuss things.
Please do note SLES is not an "officially supported platform" for us, as we don't develop on/for it, but if you get it to work, then of course by all means enjoy it ;-)

It's exactly like: "Could not ping <hostname>", copying the hostname and pasting on CLI, addhost.php works fine... Any ideas?
Well, there are no missing dependencies or apache configuration errors. The installation is really pretty much straightforward, I used the official SVN installation procedure as reference, would like to build RPM packages for SLES/openSUSE as soon as I get some free time..
