I am making progress on getting done. I have the api parts done. With the output of the following gv_office , 7 pickens , 91 landmark , 22 david , 6 Garys , 5 gv_towers , 0 horizon-records , 2 libertytowers , 12 National , 11 zachhome , 4 zen , 0 The first part is the site name (think location/group of access points) and the 2nd is the number of connected users.
Tomorrow I/we will be working on getting local-agent and observium charts working.

It would be possible to write something to collect data sent via the agent, or to collect it directly from a socket from the poller.
It's probably much faster and easier than polling the same amount of data from SNMP, too.

Before we spend to much time setting something up I want to make sure that I was on the right track. We have many wireless ubnt unifi APs and there snmp on the APs themselves sucks. But the wireless controller does have a nice API what print out a json output listing every client connect to AP managed by the controller. The json has the mac, connection time, connection duration, AP currently connection to and much more.
The idea is to use the unix/linux agent on the controller to connection to API on localhost and download json and clean data up. The observium can poll the unix agent and chart/display the data.
Is this crazy or am I on the right track. _______________________________________________ observium mailing list observium@observium.org http://postman.memetic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/observium
