[Observium] VMware Hypervisor Check/Alert

Is anyone successfully monitoring their VMware Hypervisors to generate an alert when a host enters/exits maintenance mode? Would you be willing to share tips/tricks? I don't see any conditions in the logs when this happens that would provide a trigger...
