Hi Denis!

Thank you for your information. You are also right.

But when scanning a _already added_ Device Observium will found new Devices with CDP and would try to add it to Observium.

If Observium can access the Device it would be auto added to Observium.

If not i would not even know, that Observium has found a new Device but failed to access it.

Sometimes other staff simple forgot to allow snmp on the firewall. J

Thats caused my question about logging or notification of this failed action.

Kind regards

Martin

Hi Martin,

The discovery.php is not for adding/looking for new devices. It discovers the whole device which is _already added_ in Observium.

Betreff: [Observium] logging failed discoverd devices

Hi!

If i run „./discovery.php -h all“ at the shell observium will find new devices.

Observium try to access the device with snmpV3, snmpV2 and snmpV1.

If Observium can access the device it will be added to Observium and show up in the GUI.

If Observium failed to access the Device it would not show up in the GUI and i don’t even know, that there was a device found.

Is there a way to log dicovered but failed Devices?

Maybe with the failed message, Hostname and IP-Address?

Or a notification in the gui like „found 3 new devices but could not access the devices. [click more for details]“ would be nice. J

Thank you in advanced!

Kind regards

Martin
