So, having re-enabled this on my dev install, it seems it still functions :
I'm not sure how far it can scale, or how it behaves in odd circumstances, but it does seem to work. Indexing basically uses the "type" part of the rrd filename
and the "index" part. This made it easy to modify the existing RRD-handling functions.

There was talk about exporting atleast poller-stats to influxDB so that they could be graphed with grafana.
Not much progress on that lately though.
