The problem is compounded by 5 * 30 second SNMP timeouts.

If you're using more than a second or two timeout, something is very broken.

yea...switch is horrible, but switch has Passive PoE and SFP interface, for some installation where we have only Fiber and UTP without electricity this is best way how we can connect customer

180seconds of timeout on snmp is in my opinion very high.
