No. We can't keep track of all versions over long periods of time.
If an upgrade breaks something you can just do what I explained below. You'll only lose event log and whatever settings you've made via the web interface.
You should generally upgrade quite frequently. We provide the SVN + discovery script update mechanism so that it's easy to keep updated (I tend to automate updates with cron).
