Now I see the error in my ways.

Within the web interface of Observium I navigate to a device. Let's say a switch.
I then click the port tab to view all the ports.
I then click on port GigabitEthernet 1/0/4

The resulting web page give an error message "Invalid device/port combination"

This happens for all devices added to Observium on all ports.
