Hi,
There isn't really such a thing. What sort of stuff are you having trouble understanding?

Well…
To make a long story short the person who set Observium up and was managing it is no longer at the company I am working for and I want to monitor some devices but I am not getting all the information I want.
I want to monitor a Juniper MX204 router and I am getting some stats but I keep seeing: Device not yet discovered
I am getting usage, logs and alerts but I want to see if I can pull BGP neighborship information.
I am running version 16.10.8128 but I do not know if an upgrade to 17.9.8859 is the answer as at this point I am more afraid of breaking things.
Basically I would like a breakdown of all functionalities.

Hey, I have a memory alert configured in observium, *mempool_perc greater 90* with * as an entity filter
[image: image.png]
I get the same threshold memory monitor for all memory entities I'd like to filter memory alerts by entities
[image: image.png]
Can you please provide a syntax example on how to create a filter for "Virtual memory" so i can set a different threshold for it
How can I find these myself next time?

Hi,
before upgrading anything I would suggest you doing a full backup of the machine OR that’s the advantage of Observium: Do a backup of the /opt/observium directory and their contents. Then you can upgrade it and in case of troubles you can simple restore the data from backup (directory or full backup of the system). So you will only loose data that got collected between upgrade process and restore process.
PS: share your knowledge across all employees ☺

1. Check your cron if you have „/usr/bin/php /opt/observium/discovery.php -h all >> /dev/null 2>&1” if not add it to crontab (once a day for all hosts is ok). 2. Check your cron if you have „/usr/bin/php /opt/observium/discovery.php -h new >> /dev/null 2>&1” if not add it to crontab (5 minute interval is ok). 3. You can manualy do discovery using „/usr/bin/php /opt/observium/discovery.php -h your_host” anytime
