Howto Integrate observium alerts with external event monitoring tool
good morning everyone,
We're evaluating to use observium as our hardware monitoring solution for some datacenters, but we need to clearly understand how can we integrate the generated alerts in the tool with external event monitoring solutions that are the ones used by our Operation Center guys.
I guess that we can run queries against the mysql table hosting such events, is there any other possibilities?
Maybe interact with mysql DB is the recommended way, that way can any of you share with me the data model of such table?
Thanks in advance for your help and sorry for the generic questions, but we're starting with the evaluation activity and we're at observium rookie level
Kind Regards
Hi Carlos,
You can use the contact system to call an external script on alert notifications. You should be able to work out what data is being exposed by the script module by looking at its code (includes/alerting/script.php), perhaps with some temporary modifications to dump the variables being set as environment. I don't think this is documented properly anywhere at the moment.
We have some plans for an externally facing API, but the standardisation of such a thing is quite time consuming, so it's still in progress!
adam.
