When adding a Calix E7 port to a customer in traffic accounting. All of the interfaces in the drop down are blank, so hard to figure out which one to select. A work around I have been doing is going to the switch port and clicking "Create Bill". Would like to add the ports in the traffic accounting area.

Can you svn up? I remember seeing some Calix changes since 5736.

I see what the issue is now. The Interface drop down in traffic accounting is populated by "ifDescr - ifAlias". The Calix E7 is not handing out ifAlias and the ifDescr are all blank. Hence why I am see " - " in the drop down. It might be worthwhile to add code that if "ifDescr" is blank or missing to use ifName, as that is populated by Calix. This might solve some other issues with that drop down being blank for other vendors.
On another note, plus 1 vote for an snmpwalk troubleshooting GUI in Observium.

Just thinking out loud. A page in Observium that you could select a device and then from other dropdowns and checkboxes select different snmpwalk options. Press Ok and it gives you the raw output on the page. Help with troubleshooting and understanding what is being provided by a device via SNMP.

Hi Guys, If you just want info about what SNMP stuff is being pulled from an interface/port Observium already has that in the GUI! Click into the device, Click Ports, Click on the name of the port you want to check out, and then click on "Data" (next to "Create Bill" on the right hand side above the Traffic graphs). Cheers, Nathan

That's good information, if only on a port-by-port basis. To elaborate on Tom's note, use `snmpwalk` from the shell: http://www.net-snmp.org/wiki/index.php/TUT:snmpwalk
You need to know a little about SNMP OIDs in order to obtain the information you're looking for via `snmpwalk`.
Having such a test page within the GUI is probably outside the scope of Observium. But like Adam always says, "feel free to write it!" ;-)

But like Adam always says, "feel free to write it!" ;-)
My objection to SNMP-from-the-UI (and especially anything involving SNMP RW) is that it's a security nightmare, and at the end of the day, not *really* that useful.

The revision doesn't really mean the same thing on stable. Stable is only up to date to the point at which changes were merged from TRUNK to STABLE :
root@omega:/home/observium/demo# svn info Path: . Working Copy Root Path: /home/observium/demo URL: http://svn.observium.org/svn/observium/branches/stable Relative URL: ^/observium/branches/stable Repository Root: http://svn.observium.org/svn Repository UUID: 61d68cd4-352d-0410-923a-c4978735b2b8 Revision: 5757 Node Kind: directory Schedule: normal Last Changed Author: adama Last Changed Rev: 5745 Last Changed Date: 2014-08-13 11:58:16 +0200 (Wed, 13 Aug 2014)
In this case STABLE is at 5745 from the 13th. No changes since then have been merged to stable yet.

Can you svn up? I remember seeing some Calix changes since 5736.

When adding a Calix E7 port to a customer in traffic accounting. All of the interfaces in the drop down are blank, so hard to figure out which one to select. A work around I have been doing is going to the switch port and clicking "Create Bill". Would like to add the ports in the traffic accounting area.

Calix is very retarded devices, they have many bugs in their fw..
they have made fixes to some latest firmwares for ifName/ifDescr, but thus broke interface counters (they now produce many spikes).. also Calix devices not have any ifAlias for ports.
Contact to vendor for fix this.
