Device Showing Down in Alerts but Device is online
Hi Team,
We have problem with device alerts. Due to this we can't monitor our network. Actually, our devices are online but, in the alerts, it will be showing down. I have tried to forceful discover but still same. I think it will be software bug then i will update to latest version but at here also same issue. If anyone have solution, please let me know. Thanks in advance.
This device isn't "showing down", an alert that you've called "device up/down" which may or may not correctly track a device being up/down has failed for these devices, seemingly all of your devices.
It's most likely that your alert conditions are broken and are just always returning failed.

Hi Adam,
Then what can do for it delete this condition and recreate a new alert.
Show us the alert conditions for that rule.

Hi adam,
as per your said we have created a new alert in that also it will be showing unknown. Plese find the attached screenshot.
Unknown means the device hasn’t been polled yet since the alert check was updated, which might mean it’s offline/unreachable, which might mean your original alert was fine. I’m guessing there is an ACL or other issue preventing your Observium server from getting ICMP and/or SNMP to these devices.
Try to ping one from the observium server, and do a manual discovery on one to see if it can be reached, I’d bet they can’t.

Hi Miller,
We have created a new alert so it will be taken for some to discover. Even after 5-6 hours some devices will be showing unknown then we forcefully discovered entire device after that also same thing.
Alert creation doesn't require waiting for the discovery process.
All of your entities have been picked up by the alert, but the ones in grey aren't actually being polled.
I suspect if you look at those devices you'll find they don't have populated graphs and are no longer being polled for some reason.
Do you have a multi-poller system where one poller is broken?
Do you have unnecessary options on the poller entries in crontab?

This device isn't "showing down", an alert that you've called "device up/down" which may or may not correctly track a device being up/down has failed for these devices, seemingly all of your devices.
It's most likely that your alert conditions are broken and are just always returning failed.
