Alerting on custom application values
Greetings All,
Can you set an alert on a value imported from a custom application? E.g, if I’m tracking the %CPU and %Memory of a specific application on a linux host, can I set an alert check on something like cpu greater 50?
All graphs are working fine. I know the values are being received by Observium. But its not clear to me what the entity, or even the entity type, would be.
Thanks!

Hi Phillip,
The metrics from the apps system isn't currently available to the alerting system.
This is partly because of the unstructured nature of the apps system, where every app is basically its own set of code with Observium not having much knowledge of what data it's holding.
We have some plans to try to expose this to the alerting system in the future, but it'll probably come after we make some other changes to the alerting that'll make it easier.
With sufficient motivation you could write a Nagios-compatible plugin to collect and alert on the same data using the "probes" system.
Thanks, Adam.
