
We have many device which we don't want to add in observium but we want them to send snmptrap message to observium. how does that work? we want to write rule so we can alert them base on snmptrap even.

Observium does not support SNMP traps at all so Im afraid that is not possible /Markus

I seem to remember there being some way to add a host as "ping only" - not "no checks". But i could be wrong, we monitor all our devices actively...
You could add a device like that and then run snmptrapd-to-syslog to display the events. Then there's also the syslog alerting module you can leverage.
Or you could even add a benign dumb device with actual snmp checks, then just make sure your trap sending device ip matches back to the right observium device name...
Sounds easy.
