BTW, thanks for this great app. Its better than most of the commercial options i have even found.
1) How do I disable ipv6 reporting? Its not being used at all within my infrastructure. There is actually probably a lot of stuff that could be disabled, such as cisco and wireless, etc. I dont have either of those. Are filters used for this?
2) I see the config options for syslog, but then it says its not being used. So right now nothing is done with syslog at all? Im assuming there are plans for observium to become a syslog server then? Well, at least parse logs from one.
3) I do have multiple xen servers, what exactly does enabling the Virtualization options do and where would that data be available?
4) Since i have xen nodes, any recommendations for getting resource information to actual show for the entire xen host instead of just the dom0?
5) Service monitoring at this point is imply just up/down. Right? Is there that much on how quickly alerts are sent out? Can it wait to see it it fails for a second check before reported, etc? Wanting to reduce false positives. Note, i havent really done anything with alerts with observium, just reading over the docs.
BTW, im using Observium 0.11.6.2390.
Thanks for your time! - Mark

At the moment you cant.

We currently put syslog into a database and allow it to be viewed. Any more than that would require an events system that we don't yet have :)

Don't know, i didn't write that bit :D

Nope :>

We don't really want people to use it at the moment, it all needs ripped out and replaced. Nagios/Icinga for alerts :)

You should be keeping up with the SVN release preferably via cron'd "svn up" before discovery. We generally don't answer questions from people who don't track SVN (because we usually can't remember what was different in old revisions!)

The virtualization "support" in Observium is currently limited to listing the virtual machines on a monitored host, if it's running either VMWare ESX or something with libvirt. Libvirt access can be done through any libvirt-supported mechanism (I think?), I only tested ssh access (with a passwordless key) myself.
If you run something like Xenserver we currently have no support for it; does it expose its data somehow?
Code can always be written, but we prefer to do this only when we can get access to a (test)host.

Nope :>
Again, if this data is somehow provided, it can probably be arranged.
Patches welcome, as always -- if you need help deciphering what goes where, there is a start for development documentation on the wiki, but it's by no means complete. Join us on IRC for fast turnaround answers(*).
