Create Load Averages Alert Checker
Hi All,
I create successfully a alert for device downtime and diskspace use, but cannot find the right info to create a alert for load averages into http://www.observium.org/docs/entities
Can someone help me with this?
Thanks allot for your feedback.
Hi H,
This is currently not possible, as the load average is not linked to a specific entity and as such not a metric to alert on (yet) ...

Is there already news when this option will add into the svn? Also another question, where i can see the change log from the updated version?
Thank you for your information.

Hi,
You can see the changelog here: http://www.observium.org/svn.log
Also, had you perhaps considered using a match of “processor_descr match Average” instead of the unix load average?
I appreciate it’s a different metric in many ways, but depending on your requirements, it may give you what you need.
All the best,

I'm pretty sure this is now possible using "device_la" metric, which will contain the 5 minute load average of the system.
It only works on devices which report the data via UCD-MIB, though.

Yep,
device_la - 5 min load average (common, since we poll devices by 5 min) but anyway you can use: device_la_1min, device_la_5min (alias for device_la) and device_la_15min - 1min, 5min, 15min
and yes, commonly it supported by UCD-MIB (any unix based devices), additionally by RITTAL-CMC-III-MIB (Rittal devices).
